Custom start - end for listings recognition - translations.

Hi. When using the Gengo system i get "angry" translaters asking why the text is not delivered in 1 piece. After playing around I can see that the enterprise system is searching for paragraphs <p> and <ul> / <li> to determine if there is any text. For me as a webmaster wanting to translate the text i have to click on every little string to get it translated. In the Gengo system i cannot easily find back any strings belonging to a particular listing. For the translators at Gengo they get all small strings not having an overview of the total of the text. Maybe it's something that per website an (experienced) webmaster can tell the system between which div classes/id's the maintext is. For Joomla main content it's allways mostly the same. In my case i use Jreviews which has allways <div class ="jrListingFulltext"> as start from the main text area. Maybe in the future the scraper can be adjusted per clients wish. Jasper
Translation Panel overview
Aug 23, 2013 6:57 pm by jasperli
Hello, After editting language strings manually and through Gengo i am getting lost in what parts are translated automaticly/manual/professional.... My way to keep track of translations is to note it down manually. But with every new piece of content i hav to go through all languages hoping not to forget one. It takes me a lot of time to just figure out how and if a certain piece is translated. Is it possible to extend the language edit environment with (for example) colors or some kind of overview that i can see what is already have translated automaticly/ manual and professional? I am using enterprise! Jasper

Hi, I will suggest you to have some formatting for your texts on your site. For example we use <p> or <span> tags to wrap sentences, so they can be translated at once. I have suggested to Gengo to make the possibility to send also the context during the order process, so the human sitting on the other side will have overview of what she is translating, but till now they haven't implemented that feature. We are working to change the color of the pencil if the text has already been corrected by a human being.
Ticketing system
Aug 26, 2013 12:48 pm by jasperli
Hi, I think a (privat) ticketing system will be needed as well. So many posts now have a lot of information about their website and/or questions about licensing etc. Some info might be confidential. I also think that as a webmaster/owner of the product you have a better overview of pending requests. Jasper

I see red and green pencil icons :-) very nice! Now i have a better overview over manual and proff translations and i can help if a client finds a fault. This the the best improvement i can think of!! Maybe you can add a short piece of explanation of the feature in the Documentation. Jasper

Hi Edvard, i have a suggestion that i think is important for many site. GTranslate (I use enterprise version) translate correctly standar metadata but don't translate at all og: metadata for twitter or facebook. I think that you can parse and translate this metadata with your system without problems. I will tray to help writting the usually metadata schema and the operation that your system may do: <meta name="twitter:description" content="Translate this text..."/> <meta property="og:description" content="Translate this text..."/> <meta property="og:url" content="Maintain here the translated url, not the original url"/> <meta name="twitter:title" content="Translate this text..."/> <meta property="og:title" content="Translate this text..."/> <meta property="og:locale" content="Add translated language ID example: fr-fr or en-us"/> <meta property="og:site_name" content="Translate this text..."/> I hope that you love this new feature. Regards

Hi, This is a nice plugin, but there is one thing thats missing for me (or I can't find it documented anywhere). Options on the shortcode! I want to be able to specify the default language at the place where I put my shortcode. The reason I need this is that my site is a "mix" of default languages. Some post have been written in one language and some in another. An easy solution for me would be the something like: [gtranslate default=en] An even better option for me would be if the plugin was able to taste on the language and determine the default language on the fly. Or is there another solution? Right now my only option is to convert all my content which differ in language to my choosen default language, but that is a lot of work. Regards Michael

Hi, Is it possible to get URL translation for the Pro version. I don't mind paying for it. The thing is I couldn't get the Enterprise version to work with my host in combination with Varnish and CloudFlare. The Pro version works very well. Only thing missing is the URL translation. Regards, Sander

1) It will be extremely helpful, at least for my site, to have image urls/jpeg titles and alt tags translated. This would be fantastic if you can implement. 2) Also it would be quite helpful if description tag could be edited as well. 3) Also it would be great to have glossary of site specific terms, which we could define once and program going to translate accordingly. #1 has extreme importance for my site, please let me know if you planning to do something with image SEO.
Re: Feature requests
Nov 11, 2014 11:29 pm by Edvard
1) title attribute for images is being translated, we will add the alt attribute translation shortly. 2) It is possible actually, if you are having problems please open an issue topic on the forum. 3) When you change anything on the site it changes everywhere. However if the context differs you need to translate it again. Thanks!
Re: Feature requests
Nov 13, 2014 8:33 pm by nicholasCH
Yes, you translate title attribute. But i expressed not clear what i wanted. i mean is it possible at all to have "art.jpg" on russian version translated as "искусство.jpg". Because for me image search gives 95% traffic. I have very competitive field, and in text searches it is impossible to be on top at all. museums you know it's zillion of museums with $$$ and connections taking all top positions in word search.
Re: Feature requests
Nov 13, 2014 8:44 pm by Edvard
We cannot translate img src attribute since it still loads from your original server and in that case it will give 404 not found error. When we add alt attribute translation it will improve the SEO for images. Thanks!

This is not really a "Feature Requests" but the file /wp-content/plugins/gtranslate/blank.png needs to be renamed because of ad blockers starting to block more then just ads like website traffic tracking & analytic services they will use files like blank.png, _blank.png or 0x0.png etc... so I see X's over the flags because of that. :| I know I can just change my filters but that will not change things for the users who comes to my website. so maybe call it tflag.png or something :)
Change log and update notification
Mar 24, 2015 6:12 pm by alxttr
Hi, These requests are for the joomla module. I think it will be useful to have a change log available in order to give your user the posibility to see what's new. As well, at least a back-end update notification would be much apreciate so we know when a new version has been released. Kind regards, Alex

hi, I hope you will add language file to this module itself, so that I can translate this module into my native language. Thank you.

Ability to filter 'Select Language' in drop down and/or be able to change this via widget title.

I think a good addition for GTranslate would be to incorporate it into some 3rd party applications. For example: - Joomla / JomSocial Stream (similar to that of Facebook's translate) - Joomla / EasySocial Stream (similar to that of Facebook's translate) - Wordpress / BuddyPress Stream (similar to that of Facebook's translate) This would really help the growth of Social Networks using the platforms above as well as others. Currently there is nothing in place. James

Re: Feature requests - translations of created RSS Feeds
Dec 30, 2015 10:34 pm by miamiman
Is it possible to set up an RSS feed from the translated pages of GTranslate Pro? For instance if I use this url http://www.xxx.com/es/feed I simply get a blank page whereas on the non-translated pages it will give me an rss feed in my Wordpress multisite installation. Thanks, Tee Hello Gtranslate staff, Has the translation of RSS feeds been implemented? per the above example? Thanks,

Less HTTP calls
Feb 17, 2016 2:42 pm by dadons7
Your plugin for WordPress is well coded and is the best that I have tested. In regards to website performance we are always looking for ways to reduce the number of HTTP calls. For example, I disabled one css file using wp_deregister_style('gtranslate-style'); in my child functions.php file. This saved one HTTP call by eliminating the gtranslate-style16.css call which is not needed for my website. In looking at the performance waterfall for my website I also noticed that there is an unwanted Google Translate png file (googlelogo_color_42x16dp.png) that is loading. Is there any way to eliminate this file from loading using php, javascript or... ? Thank you again for writing such a great plugin !!! :D Below are the 8 HTTP calls before I made any changes My goal is to reduce the number of HTTP calls to the bare minimum. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. GTranslate HTTP Calls .7k https://cdn7.cachefly.net/astengox/mich ... tyle16.css 1k https://translate.google.com/translate_ ... ementInit2 3.5 https://translate.googleapis.com/transl ... lement.css 1.6k https://translate.googleapis.com/transl ... nt/main.js 77.4k https://translate.googleapis.com/transl ... nt_main.js 1.1k https://www.gstatic.com/images/branding ... e_24dp.png 1k https://translate.googleapis.com/transl ... _0ikqqq1s1 1k https://www.gstatic.com/images/branding ... 2x16dp.png

Hello. This request is about Enterprise. I know you uses a header var HTTP_X_GT_LANG. Can you create a similar var but with the CountryCode for the first IP in HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR? (I'm talking about a var like HTTP_CF_IPCOUNTRY used by cloudflare) As you know, when you get the var HTTP_CF_IPCOUNTRY from cloudflare on translated pages, you obtain France because your servers are there, but the REAL IP of the visitor is the first one in HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR. Thanks!

Hi, You can get the IP from HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR and use geo location tool to find out the country. Thanks!

Hello, I would like to ask you, if you are planning to add to your Wordpress plugin declaration, which will move your floating language selector under the admin bar, if it's active (by 32px). I tried it to do on my side and it's working, you must only in gtranslate.php replace this: switch($data['floating_language_selector']) { case 'top_left': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;top:'.$vertical_location.';left:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'top_right': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;top:'.$vertical_location.';right:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'bottom_left': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;bottom:'.$vertical_location.';left:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'bottom_right': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;bottom:'.$vertical_location.';right:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; default: $html = ''; break; } by this: if ( is_admin_bar_showing() ) { switch($data['floating_language_selector']) { case 'top_left': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;top:32px;left:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'top_right': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;top:32px;right:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'bottom_left': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;bottom:'.$vertical_location.';left:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'bottom_right': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;bottom:'.$vertical_location.';right:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; default: $html = ''; break; } } else { switch($data['floating_language_selector']) { case 'top_left': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;top:'.$vertical_location.';left:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'top_right': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;top:'.$vertical_location.';right:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'bottom_left': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;bottom:'.$vertical_location.';left:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; case 'bottom_right': $html = '<div style="position:fixed;bottom:'.$vertical_location.';right:8%;z-index:999999;">'.GTranslate::get_widget_code(false).'</div>'; break; default: $html = ''; break; } }

In testing on GTMetrix.com, all of my sites using this addon have issues and are penalized due to how the images are handled. I agree with their analysis. These are static images and it would be best to have them all in sprite image. The following images served from XXXXXXXXX.com should be combined into as few images as possible using CSS sprites. https://bamacomp.com/modules/mod_gtranslate/tmpl/lang/32/de.png https://bamacomp.com/modules/mod_gtranslate/tmpl/lang/32/en-us.png https://bamacomp.com/modules/mod_gtranslate/tmpl/lang/32/es.png https://bamacomp.com/modules/mod_gtranslate/tmpl/lang/32/fr.png https://bamacomp.com/modules/mod_gtranslate/tmpl/lang/32/ja.png https://bamacomp.com/modules/mod_gtranslate/tmpl/lang/32/zh-CN.png

Hi, HTTP/2 protocol doesn't require you to use sprites as all the images are loaded through one connection. GTmetrix provides info for old HTTP connections. Thanks!
Whitelist
Jan 11, 2019 7:45 pm by stevland
I am aware of the class="notranslate" function. It would be really nice, however, to have a Whitelist that words and phrases can be added to and then excluded from being translated. For example, I am currently working on a music website. Every time an artist's name is used, I have to wrap it in the class="notranslate" tag. It is very tedious! It would be so nice to be able to simply create a list once... Ween The Dean Ween Group Nick Oliveri The Moons Peasant Hello=Fire Moistboyz Chris Harford Ragazzi The Waxwings Jack Adapter Speedway 69 ...and forget about it. It is too late for me and this project, but hopefully you will agree that this would be a worthy enhancement to your already excellent plugin. Thanks.
