Subdomain redirects and human files
Nov 9, 2013 9:28 pm by [email protected]
We subscribed to Enterprise version after using PRO for almost two years. It worked great, but we had to move on as there were so many inodes that out hosting provider asked us to solve this issue. At the end there were 1.2 million files on our web. Could You please let me know how to do the following after migrating from PRO to Enterprise version: - redirect old domain/language paths to new subdomains as we don't want to loose Google indexing and SERP - implement all the human files (manually translated parts of website) to Enterprise Thank You for Your support as it has always been quick and helpful.

Hi, You need to configure Enterprise version then add the rewrite rule to make the redirect: https://gtranslate.io/docs/58-gtranslat ... umentation check "Upgrading from Pro" section. You can send us your .human files keeping the directory structure and we will add it for you. Thanks for your kind words!

One more thing, unfortunately. Our internal links now lead to non-www page versions for main language, so pages are not linked correctly. If we put: RewriteCond %{HTTP:X-GT-Lang} ^$ # requests from our network will have X-GT-Lang header RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^dreamingcroatia.com RewriteRule (.*) http://www.dreamingcroatia.com/$1 [R=301,L] we get 500 internal server error.

Thank You Yana, Your advice worked for us! Still, there are several other issues after migrating from PRO to Enterprise: - we have 15 sub-domains now, for 15 languages. Half of sub-domains have correct formating of text, but half of them don't (text is larger than it should be). Messed up sub-domains have several characters in left top corner like "ï »¿" or similar. As they are all coming form same template, I don't know where to look for the solution to this. Here are the ones with "problem": http://no.dreamingcroatia.com/ http://sv.dreamingcroatia.com/ http://ru.dreamingcroatia.com/ http://da.dreamingcroatia.com/ http://nl.dreamingcroatia.com/ http://fi.dreamingcroatia.com/ http://hu.dreamingcroatia.com/ http://sk.dreamingcroatia.com/ All other languages display properly. - as I wrote You in email few days ago, I understand than in the header of the template, for URL translation, we have to put: <meta name="uri-translation" content="on"/> But, I can't understand where is this part in a template. I've attached our template in that email, so if You can tell me how to implement URL thing in it. - third issue is that we are unable to manually edit translations. "Authentication required" pop up doesn't accept user/pass combination that we use or have used. How to do this? Is there some special log in way in Enterprise for editing text? Thank You for Your time Yana.

Hi, 1. There are some hidden characters in your html . You can manually edit the translations and delete ï »¿ . It will save in the cache and nex tim e will be loaded from cache. I edited mentioned languages. 2. You should put in the <head> section. For example you can put after the following line <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> 3. I tried to edit the translation and it works. You just need to add ?language_edit=1 to the end of the URL for example http://sv.dreamingcroatia.com/?language_edit=1 You should find username and password in the email with the instructions. If you deleted the email I can send again.

Yana, You are the best! All Your solutions worked and our web is now better than ever! I can also recommend Enterprise to everyone considering as it works fast and precise. We had problems in the past when we tried to migrate from PRO to Enterprise a year ago, but now I can see Enterprise is much better, faster and reliable than before. Thanks to Yana and Edvard for their patience and support.
