get url of page dont work with /lang/

Hi
I need to detect in php script if users is accessing a translated version of site to change somethigns like xml:lang meta tag, charset, etc..
I tried to use
$_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"].$_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]
but $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] get the original url without /lang/
Is there another way?
