Don't translate menu text
Jul 13, 2011 1:43 pm by pmarcus81
Hello, I know I can stop translating text in articles bij putting <span class="notranslate"></span> around it. But how do i stop translating menu text? The problem is that i have a menu with all kinds of car brands, Ford, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and...... Smart and Seat. Smart and Seat are English words, so it's to be translated and I don't want that. Hope to hear from you soon, Gr. Paul.

The solution is the same, you need to add class="notranslate" to your menu wrapper tag.

Can you be more specific? I can't find a menu wrapper tag. I use Joomla 1.6... Is it Custom CSS Class maybe?

Most likely you need to edit your template file.

My menu item has a field for Custom CSS Class. When I pun notranslate there, it works! My next problem is that article names are translated also. Where do I put a notranslate to stop the article name from being translated?

That need to be changed from the template. If you already have override for com_content then it will be easy, otherwise you need to create an override for com_content component.
