[Solved] Joomla-Installation in "de"-Subfolder
Apr 27, 2012 10:09 am by ositron
Hello. We just purchased the Pro-Version and need some help! The Joomla-Installation on our Site is located in a sub-folder named "de" (www-root/de). I did the following: - install gtranslate folder to 'www-root/gtranslate' - set 777 to cache-folder and all sub-folders - edit config.php to have Google-Key, Default-Lang=de and Username/PW for editing translation - install joomla module and plugin - edit the htaccess located in www-root and add the lines found in your readme. What i get: When i click on a language flag located on the german joomla installation (http://www.ositron.de/de/ositron-lan-tapi-220.html) i am redirected to http://www.ositron.de/fr/ositron-lan-tapi-220.html (for the french example). This url seems to be correct at the first place, but the site says "Object not found! 404". When i type http://ositron.de/fr directly, i get Found The document has moved here. here is linked to: http://www.ositron.de/fr/de/, which will be redirected to http://www.ositron.de/fr/ again Do you have any idea what could be going wrong in my installation? I assume it's the "de" installation path of joomla... Thx in advance

Some additional info: i also tried to run it for some html/php files that are not part of the joomla installation in in different sub folders and the www-root. The redirect here does work properly, sadly the contents will not be translated. See here: originial path: http://ositron.de/index.php translation path: http://ositron.de/fr/index.php Inspecting the html code i also found that the "translated page" does include your <!-- generated by GTranslate Pro v3.141592 visit http://gtranslate.net -->

After deleting my Google API_KEY from the config.php i am finally able to translate content that is NOT part of my Joomla installation. The problem with the "de"-folder still persists and it seems to be caused by the mod_rewrite rules deleting the folder-info "de" out of the url. Need some help fixing the rewrite rule for de, en, pl and ro, because theses folders do exist on our server.

Hi, and thanks, i could solve this issue with the help of the topic you suggested. Only thing that is a little bit annoying is that, because of the visible /de/-folder in my urls, the translated pages are displayed like: orignial: http://www.mypage.de/de/page.html trans.: http://www.mypage.com/es/de/page.html tried some things with mod_rewrite, but couldn't get it to work on both original and translated site 100%. Solved and thanks again :)
