Unable to Edit Home Page Content for Translation

Hi,
I have been able to edit the translations within the my interior pages, but can not edit the content of the home page of my site.
I have added the language edit extension to the url, however it returns a 404 error.
Can you advise why and what I can do enable editing on the home page?
