Redirect problem, not opening the translations
May 30, 2014 11:07 am by icinfo
Hi, we have installed the GTranslate to Joomla 2.5. and followed the instructions for setting it up (sitemap, config-file changes, /catche folders, htaccess-file changes, robot.txt file etc. We have the following problem: Site stays in mainlanguage and does not show the automatic translation /fi/. We can see the correct URL in the bottom left-corner of the screen (f.ex. /fi/page-alias), but after some time the site URL in the browser still is showing the mainlanguage URL. For example when on this page: http://internet-content.net/websites-al ... ebsite-all And we click the Finnish flag, we can see the URL http://internet-content.net/fi/websites ... ebsite-all at the bottom leftcorner, but after some time the site is ending in the mainlanguage URL http://internet-content.net/websites-al ... ebsite-all. So seems that no change to get to the any translation side of the site, but always staying in the English language (main-language). (Note, some of the texts are in Finnish now since we thought we are translating the Finnish side, but were in the English side all the time...) What can be causing this problem of not being able to access the translated side at all? - Anne

Hi, I can see that you have a redirect from http://internet-content.net/fi/websites ... ebsite-all to http://internet-content.net/websites-al ... ebsite-all What is the main language for your website? May be you can post your .htaccess file, so I can check it for you? Thanks!

Hi, main language is English. Here is the htaccess file info: ## # @package Joomla # @copyright Copyright (C) 2005 - 2013 Open Source Matters. If using it causes your server to error out, comment it out (add # to # beginning of line), reload your site in your browser and test your sef url's. If they work, # it has been set by your server administrator and you do not need it set here. ## ## Can be commented out if causes errors, see notes above. You did a wrong installation, please check our documentation: https://gtranslate.io/docs/57-gtranslat ... umentation as you see it says: NOTE: Please DO NOT install both the Joomla plugin version and the General version at the same time. As I can see you have installed both. So, please uninstall the general version by deleting gtranslate folder and removing .htaccess rules and enable the GTranslate plugin. If you are having issues with the installation we can install it for you. You can send FTP and admin access details using our contact us form on our home page. P.S. Google Translate API key is optional, unless you want to pay for it. Thanks!
