Two installs of wordpress in same domain

Postby [email protected] » Mon Aug 01, 2011 11:21 am

This may be a complicated issue:

I have 2 installs of wordpress in the same domain because we needed two blogs on the same server. They are:
1. ww.theppcspecialists.com/
2. http://www.theppcspecialists.com/articles/

I installed GTT to both and followed the instructions perfectly. I'm guessing the redirect-translation will start working once I enter the API key and usename/password which I am waiting for you to send.

But the problem is:
1. I choose a language, say French, the site successfully redirects to http://www.theppcspecialists.com/fr/
2. Then I click on the link that leads to the "articles" blog. At this point, the site redirects to http://www.theppcspecialists.com/fr/articles/ (which is non-existent) instead of going to "www.theppcspecialists.com/articles/fr/" where the other install of GTT awaits.

How to I ensure that even if a user chooses a language from the home site, and then chooses to go to the articles blog, they should be redirected to the right URL?

Look forward to your response. (Great plugin by the way... ingenius)

Hi,

You need to install it only once. And all the subdirectories including articles will be translated. So the link for your 2nd wordpress will be http://www.theppcspecialists.com/fr/articles/ instead of http://www.theppcspecialists.com/articles/fr/

I do confirm. For the second wordpress you can just install the free version and configure it to work with the Pro. It will enable the language selector on your second WP.

Hmm still have some trouble.

I removed the gtt install inside the subfolder articles. But now when I click on any of the articles from the widget on my main site, it gives me a message:

Moved Permanently
The document has moved here.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.theppcspecialists.com Port 8
(The URL of this error page is "http://www.theppcspecialists.com/be/articles"

And when I click on the here link, it takes me to http://www.theppcspecialists.com/be/articles/

Notice the additional forward slash in the correct URL.

And now when I try to translate the main site, it doesn't translate (returning a 404)

I am not a techie so I really don't know how to resolve this. Can I give you access so you can take a look?

I can install it for you if you send me the FTP access details and the Translate API key.

But I'm sure that you have issue with your .htaccess file inside www root folder. Check the troubleshooting.

It is OK now. As I mentioned you had a problem with .htaccess file.

Still something wrong:
Please see: http://www.theppcspecialists.com/fr/
Why isn't it translating to french?

And try clicking on the "Our Blog" widget o our home site - you will see the "Moved Permanently" error. Is this a wordpress problem or is it something you can fix? Sorry for the trouble. I am unable to fix this myself else I would not be asking.

You already used 100% of the Translation API daily limit, and for now you just need to wait.

The link is incorrect it should be this http://www.theppcspecialists.com/fr/articles/ instead of http://www.theppcspecialists.com/fr/articles

But there is a solution for that, you can turn on FOLLOW_LOCATION parameter in gtranslate/config.php file.

unlimited usage from Translate API :)

You can ask Google for that, but I don't think that they will consider that option for your site.

You can also use Bing Translator, which has better translation limits, and the translation quality is not any worse.

Postby backlink pagerank » Fri Mar 30, 2012 12:34 am

hi gtranslate.net owner discovered your site via yahoo but it was hard to find and I see you could have more visitors because there are not so many comments yet. I have discovered website which offer to dramatically increase traffic to your blog http://xrumerservice.org they claim they managed to get close to 1000 visitors/day using their services you could also get lot more targeted traffic from search engines as you have now. I used their services and got significantly more visitors to my website. Hope this helps :) They offer most cost effective backlinks service Take care. Jason
